1. Tribal Dhokra Tribal Brass Castings
The awe-inspiring Dhokra Castings are another one of its kinds of creations by the tribal people of Chhattisgarh, Kolkata, Orissa and some other Eastern parts of India. The simple looking brass castings though actually take long specific hand process by the tribes of India. A highly viscous wax looking material is taken out from the nests of the bees. The waxy stuff being very viscous semi fluid, rope shaped in form is used to form sculptures by circling around itself. The wax, after it dries up more is then covered by a special clay formed with a combination of many types of soils. The clay covers up the wax sculpture to form a mold. The clay along with the wax inside is then allowed to dry up completely till it is capable of holding hot liquid brass in it.
Brass is then heated up to a melting point and poured into the mold from one opening. It takes the place of the wax and after cooling off the clay is removed broken and washed away from the top to leave behind the beautiful breath taking brass Dhokra casting sculptures. The Dhokra casting process has been carried out by the tribal people in India from a long time and is still alive amongst its extollers.
